Our Story

Agricultural development

In the mid-twentieth century, investments in research and development by institutions such as Embrapa, added to technological advances, made soybean production move forward in the Cerrado regions, from the 1980s onwards.

This agricultural expansion was further driven by the migration of entrepreneurs from the south of Brazil, who saw the west of the state of Bahia as the ideal location for developing tropical and competitive agriculture.

Our Story

It all started in the 1990s, when one of these migrants from the state of Rio Grande do Sul, agronomist Jorge Pinto, with over ten years' experience, took the first step towards the western part of the Bahia state.

After 20 years of planting on farms in São Desidério (Bahia state), the Cruz Alta native invested heavily in modernising his farms and in storage, and processing infrastructure for grains and seeds, giving rise to Sementec: a partnership between Jorge Pinto and his two children.

Hence, we achieved excellence in seed multiplication and in providing storage and processing services in the west of Bahia, becoming a benchmark in technology and quality.
